Race for the Iron Throne 
One notable adaptation omission in this episode is the Sansa/Littlefinger conversation, which I’ve always found a bit mystifying for two reasons: firstly, because the show’s general trend has been to greatly increase the interactions between them, so it’s weird that their only significant canon interaction prior to the Purple Wedding is excised; and second, because the “life is not a song” line is one of those moments that is often (rather excessively reductively, I think) used to summarize Sansa’s entire story. It remains one of the most notable dialogue omissions in the adaptation, and in particular in season one, when the show was still a largely literal adaptation.
I think it was a case of them having already set things up by boosting their interaction during the Tourney. Not something I liked, but spilled milk, etc.
Yeah, but as you and SEK talked about, the scene between Theon and Roz entirely gratuitous. They could have cut it and had two whole minute back. That’s an eternity in TV terms. We could have gotten that LF-Sansa scene instead. Granted, the showrunners would have used it to play up how Ned didn’t choose the “right” person to go hunt down Ser Gregor, but still…
p.s. I was very deliberate in my use of a hyphen to separate LF and Sansa. I refuse to use a slash as it has implications in erotic fan-fiction that I can’t bring myself to invoke.
