RFTIT Tumblr Weeklyish Roundup

Hey folks! Here we are, the last Tumblr Roundup before the final season of Game of Thrones…which I will be covering, albeit in a somewhat abbreviated fashion, focusing more on what I think will or won’t happen in the books than detailed recaps, although I’ll register my opinion about any truly egregious plotting/characterization.

But in the mean-time, we’ve got Tumblrs:

Seeing how Harrold Hardyng is already going to shed his paternal name for the more illustrious Arryn surname, I don’t think Sansa would have any problems seeing to it that at least one, if not all of her children retain the Stark last name to preserve the identity of her family cult. Stark is one of the biggest legacy names of the realm. I doubt the lucky man who starts a family with Sansa will object to their children keeping their mother’s maiden name. Although seeing how she’s already married to either a Lannister or potential Arryn and those names have just as much weight to them as Stark, it may complicate matters if she has children with either of her ‘husbands’ who are just as eager to preserve their own family identities.

Also I always thought that the placements assigned to maesters depended partly on how well they did in their exams. Like the maesters who were top of their class would be sent to the greater houses or the Red Keep or be assigned a position at the Citadel. Meanwhile those who got poor grades but still graduated would be sent to poorer and less affluent houses like the Westerlings.

It would have been nice if the show had done more to emphasize that bit about the Ghiscari.

Weren’t “Bittersteel” and “Bloodraven” both just nicknames, with each of them keeping “Rivers” as their surname?
