Hey folks, I hate to do two of these in a row, but I didn’t want to leave you with no content this week. Tyrion I of ASOS is well under way, with four pages roughed out, and Politics of the Seven Kingdoms Part II is almost done, but neither are ready yet.

  1. Grant says:

I think with the Riverlands the question is really whether it’s better to focus on what’s more feasible or what’s more ultimately effective. The signal towers would be cheap, quick and easy to make and not a threat to anyone. However signal towers can’t do a thing to stop an invasion on their own. For castles, they would be a strong defense, that’s why so many were made across the world. However castles are time, money and labor-intensive and building them could make neighbors and the king angry depending on politics (which could get said castles destroyed anyway).

So while the castles are a much better physical defense, if I were a Tully short on money and already not on the best terms with the Iron Throne, I’d defer building them to a later generation.
